Our Story

One evening, a Dallas Cowboy football player walked into a retail shop in the Dallas Design District. He was in search of dining room chairs to help furnish his newly bought home. He tried out many chairs in the store, all of which were imported from overseas. Every chair he sat in would either crack or break because of his large stature. Finally, after many trials, the store manager called the owner of a developing manufacturing company, and asked if he could bring over some quality seating that would please the football player. As he was struggling to make the weekly payroll and trying to give his business a growth spurt, the owner was delighted to bring over a couple of chairs and help finish the sale for the store. When he arrived and brought in the furniture for them, the football player put the pieces to the test. He sat in the chairs and rocked them back and forth, trying everything to make sure the furniture would not be destroyed by his size and weight. After many attempts, it was apparent that he would not be able to damage these goods, and he purchased a set for his house...

This is how I D S Furniture, Inc began as a reupholstery shop but soon evolved into a rapid production line, constructing quality dining room seating, and providing retail stores and designers all over the nation the ability to sell hand-crafted chairs and benches at great prices.

Features

Made with eco-friendly materials, including a kiln-dried hardwood frame from sustainably managed forests and soy based foam cores, each of our pieces is handcrafted by our experienced carpenters and upholsterers in the USA.

Every frame is built of Poplar and corner-blocked with double-dowel joinery to ensure lasting durablilty.

Seats are constructed of a 2.5" wood band with a single sheet of webbing that encompasses the entire chair bottom. This is applied with a machine that properly stretches it to the correct tensile strength so that all chairs sit with the same comfort and firmness. Over the perimeter of the webbing sits a 1" foam edge roll that serves the purpose of stabalizing the foam in its original position. On top of all of this is a 1" foam foundation that sits just below a 3" thick piece of foam with a 2.875 compression rate. And to finish, a sheet of dacron is pulled over the top to give the seats a nice crown.
